Salam Ma’al Hijrah 1429

Oops.. not the same old entry again! I think I should stop saying that I have been too busy to update my blog!

The fact is, too many things have happened for the last six months since my birthday in June but I guess that is another lame excuse.

Anyway, Happy Islamic New Year to all Muslims. May this coming year be a better year for us all. I received a nice sms from an old friend yesterday, “O Allah, set right for me my religion which is the safeguard of my affairs, set right for me my worldly affairs in which is my livelihood, set right for me my hereafter on which depends my afterlife, make life for me means of increasing all that is good, and make death a protection for me from every evil. Ameen.”

I need to reflect on a few things that happened since the last time I updated this blog.

The worst was when my dear husband was involved in an accident while he was working on the night shift. It was terrible. Traumatic. I tried to support him emotionally as much as possible but of course, saying is always easier than doing. I learnt that everything that we have is actually on loan from Allah. He can take back whatever He wants and whenever He wants it. My husband’s experience is just a ‘warning’ from Him. Alhamdulillah, although he did have a tough time coping with the pain but he is a much stronger person now. And I have never stopped praying for him. May Allah reward him for being sabr (patient) and redha.

I also had the opportunity to travel to Cairo and Alexandria, Egypt on a business trip last month. Alhamdulillah, it was like a dream come true. Spending 9 days there was sufficient to convince me that I should get a job there! (how I wish! J) Anyway, we managed to squeeze our already tight schedule to visit the Egyptian Museum, the famous Khan-el-Khalili shopping bazaar (ouch!), the oldest university in the world – Al Azhar and of course, not forgetting the Pyramids and the Salah El-Din Citadel. It was funny though - the pyramids did amaze me (I feel awkward thinking about the number of lives that were lost while building them for the Pharaohs!) but the Citadel – it was just magnificent. Incredible. Superb.

One thing I learnt from the visit – you can have all the power and strength in the world, but in the end, you return to Allah!

Updates on the kids – they are now in kindergarten. After much thought, we decided to send them to Pusat Asuhan Tunas Islam or PASTI. Of course, one of the main reasons for sending them there is because it is close to my parents’ home and it would be easier for my dad to pick them up at 12. But the main reason is the Islamic teachings and the Islamic environment. I was there on the first day. It was quite impressive. They started the morning with an assembly, but it was not ‘another’ assembly. They started by reading the shahadah! Subhanallah! I pray that my kids would turn out to be practicing Muslims! Amin!

I have also finished my second round of ICSA examinations. After two ‘horrible’ months I completed the two most difficult papers – Financial Management and Secretaryship. Although I am not too sure of passing but I pray that Allah makes things easier for me. The results should be out in March so I am praying for the best

My husband’s granddad and granddad’s brother passed away – the difference in time was just one month away. But what affected me most was the granddad’s brother who was the imam of the kampong. Being a PAS supporter, he was always ridiculed by the rest of the community. But he never gave in. And most importantly, he made the Quran his companion. On his deathbed, just a few minutes before he passed away, he called his wife to sit next to him. He looked at her, smiled, lifted his hands, uttered “Allahumma hawwin ‘alaina fi sakaratil maut”, wiped his face, placed his hands on his chest and closed his eyes. I cried when I learnt about his ending. Subhanallah. He was 80 years old and he still had a strong mind! May Allah reward him and grant him jannah!

Other than that, life goes on…

Nothing Specific to Talk About

I took one day off from work yesterday and had a really good break (although I still have another 29 days leave until the end of the year). I wish I knew how I can finish up all these vacation days. Even getting one day off a week is difficult - what more for a whole month!

Alas.. when I got to work this morning, I was faced with a number of issues. It wasn’t related to my current post, but my previous post. The auditors are coming in tomorrow, and a lot of documentation have not been prepared. We had a meeting about this earlier on the 7th of June but I guess they didn’t realize the kind of work that is involved to ensure everything runs smoothly. But I can only watch. I better keep my mouth shut and stop making nasty remarks about why things don’t get done!

I received quite a number of belated birthday wishes today. I feel so much older!

By the way, I have added
Ahmed into my list of favourite blogs. Check his webpage out!

I Have To Leave My Kids Again…

Why do I have to go through all this? Why do I have to leave my kids again for 6 long days????? I feel like such a lousy mom. I tried to warn my kids this week, “Nanti mama pergi XXXXX, kakak dengan adik jangan nangis yer.. jangan cari mama yer..” (I am going to XXXXX, please don’t cry.. and please don’t look for me okay?)

The younger one seems stronger and more understanding. She would just nod her head and smile, and tell her twin that I will be going to work. But then the elder one.. she’s different. She’ll make this really sad face, and say “kakak nak mama” (I want you mom). It really breaks my heart to see them like this…

When can I be financially independent so that I don’t have to work and I can then look after my kids??????? See.. this needs planning….. I should start doing so. But then how can you even sit down to plan your future when you have so much office work to complete????? (Yeah right.. you still have time to blog right??)

Pray for my wellbeing while I am there..

Planned Trip and a New Laptop

It has been a week since I last updated my blog. Yes.. I have been busy trying to complete all the current outstanding tasks as I will be on leave starting tomorrow until the 21st of December. Yahoo!! Can’t wait to spend some quality time with my loved ones. My husband and I are planning to take the kids to KL on Sunday morning for a two-nights stay. We have made plans to visit a few places in KL e.g. Aquaria and the Zoo. I mean, where else can you take the kids? They are only 2 years plus - and I can bet they won’t remember a thing by the time they reach home after the trip. Really looking forward for it.

Anyway, the Ipoh PC Fair was on last weekend at Ipoh Parade. We took the kids on Saturday night, just to get a glimpse on what was offered. Something really funny happened though.. While we were having some snacks at one of the restaurants, an elderly woman stared and smiled at us for some time. I noticed that she was looking at my kids. And finally she approached us.. To my shock, she said to me, “They are twins, aren’t they? Would you like to be my “besan”?” (Besan means your child’s parents-in-law). My husband laughed so loudly, that everyone stared at him. Really, it was funny. I mean my kids are only 2 years plus. Then I realize that she had twin boys with her, about 9 years of age. Haa.. now I see her point. But then again.. we just smiled. “Insya Allah.. if Allah permits” I said to her. Hmm..

We went back the next day without the kids and after nearly 4 hours, we bought ourselves a new laptop. My old one is almost broken already - it’s been 5 years. It costed us nearly $4000 ringgit. But it was a good deal for me. 12″, 1 GB RAM and 60 GB Hard Disk. Is it?

Men were born between the legs of a woman yet men spend all their life and time trying to go back between the legs of women. Why?

Because there is no place like home!

An enjoyable trip

I enjoyed the journey so much even though it took us 4 hours to get there. It was worth it. And I am so glad that the kids enjoyed it too.

I am definitely going again.

Busy… or Lazy??

I missed writing to my blog. I have been busy.. very busy with work and my family. That is an excuse (heh..).. but I guess I am a bit lazy these days. After Eid, the twins fell ill.. so my days and nights were spent with them. Alhamdulillah, they got better.. and are having a hell of a time at home with their grandmama.

It has been awhile since I last came to this city. We started out at about five in the morning.. I slept most of the way since the twins did not sleep much last night. I think they got too excited seeing me getting ready last night, that they decided to have some fun at 2 am! I think the journey went smoothly.. But I guess my significant other did not think so..

A trip to my favourite bookstore was worth it. I spent over one hundred dollars on books and CDs that I have been wanting to buy for sometime. I think it’s good… I can’t wait to go back and read/watch them all..

And I am still thinking of buying that prepaid tmnet card………….
